Who we can help
A closer look at your exposure.
Property owners, developers, general contractors and project managers undertaking new construction or renovations.
A new build and a renovation to an occupied structure involve different risks. Existing property, project values, testing, water damage, materials in transit and changing completion dates need attention.
What to discuss with your broker
Work & materials
Review the project works, materials on site and any off-site storage or transit.
Existing structures
Clarify the treatment of existing buildings during renovations and responsibility between policies.
Project delays
Discuss whether delay-related financial protection is available and appropriate for the project.
Project coordination
Identify owners, lenders and contractors whose interests need to be reflected in the insurance.
These are areas to consider, not a promise of coverage. Options, exclusions, limits and availability depend on the insurer and your circumstances.
Have a useful first conversation.
If available, have the following information ready. Your broker will tell you what is needed for a formal submission.
- Project address, scope, construction type and total completed value
- Start and completion dates and stage already reached
- Contractor experience, site protection and hot-work controls
- Contracts, financing requirements and existing-property details
A question worth asking
What if construction takes longer than expected?
Advise your broker before the expected completion date changes. A policy extension requires insurer agreement, and occupancy or partial handover can also affect the terms.
