Claims assistance

When something happens, know where to start.

Find your insurer’s reporting contact, understand the next steps or send a notice to CIBI.

Immediate danger? Call 911.

For an urgent or after-hours claim, use the emergency contact on your policy or the insurer’s reporting instructions. The CIBI website form is not an emergency service and is not monitored continuously.

01 / First steps

Prioritize safety.

Follow emergency instructions. Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage only where safe, and keep receipts for emergency expenses.

02 / Record details

Keep a clear record.

Note the date, location and what happened. Keep photos, witness details and relevant documents. Avoid admitting fault or agreeing to a settlement.

03 / Report promptly

Follow your policy.

Notify the insurer through the required channel. Keep your claim reference number and tell your CIBI broker so we can assist.

Insurer & program contacts

Find the right reporting route.

Use the insurer and program named on your policy. A general office number is identified as such.

42 insurer and program contacts

Contacts carried forward from CIBI’s published claims directory and supplemented with insurer-published reporting details. Your policy’s specific reporting instructions take priority. Some contacts serve particular products; email is not an emergency channel.

Have you already notified the insurer?

Submitting a request does not bind, change or cancel insurance. Coverage must be confirmed by CIBI.
